Friendships begin at a young age … expanding out from the familiarity of family, into a new realm of the unknown. Yet, thankfully, when we trust this unknown, our circle of people grows … our circle of friends.
Friendship is both tears and laughter. The silly little things that can get us laughing so hard we pee our pants, and have tears streaming down our faces, as we clutch our stomachs and catch our breath, to losing someone we love and our hearts are breaking. It’s the sweetness of the friendship = love, that makes it so. Would we trade it in? Wish we never had shared the laughter and the tears, for however long it lasted? Not me. You?
Friendship is being vulnerable and willing to trust. That breaking heart thing? Yep, anytime we open ourselves up … expose who we are with all our warts and loveliness, we let the light of who we are shine and we’re accepted and loved – YAY – or not, we’re judged for our warts – BOO – (but then it’s not true friendship, is it?) … our hearts can break. Would we rather not be vulnerable for fear of someone’s judgement of us? Or, perhaps, trust and be gifted with a most amazing friendship when we’re recognized for the light within us rather than the warts? I’ll go for it. You?
There’s an ebb and flow with friendships. Sometimes we give. Sometimes we take. Sometimes we’re the student. Sometimes we’re the teacher. We live, grow, and change throughout the years. Sometimes, as we grow, we take a turn that our friends do not. Then, it’s letting go and trusting the new path will bring new friends. Sweet. It’s how life works. Trust me!
Friendship doesn’t cost a penny … yet … friendship is priceless. Let’s celebrate our friendships, let’s laugh and share wonderful times together. Let’s experience the little things in the dew, and tomorrow our hearts will awake in the morning, refreshed.
How sweet it is.
